There appears to be an oiling issue on Some Alabama heads recentley that may be due to an improper drilling of the oil hole on the #1Cam bearing cap on the 2.6 liter 8V non jet head. I was contacted by a customer who found it and told me how he fixed it.

I have notified Ron at Alabama cylinder heads on Sept 28 06 of the findings and am awaiting his response. Ron said that drilling the hole to 13/64 will fix the issue and not void any warranty.

In the meantime I suggest that you check your head for the proper location and size of the oil hole.

It looks like it is affecting the exhaust side only, However you can check the intake side also.

We used a rubber tipped blow gun to blow air into the feed hole with a shaft installed to see if the holes were aligned.

Any questions feel free to contact me.

Notice the oil feed hole size and location on the cap on right. It is from a stock head. Dia is 13/64

The cap on the left is from an alabama cylinder head. it is only 1/8 inch diameter.

Pretty much the same pic.

Looks like if you open the hole to 13/64 you should be able to get oiling to the Exhaust rocker shaft.

Support the cap in a vise and Drill thru the outer hole into the inner hole.

DO NOT DRILL thru the cap, just enough for the inner hole to align with the hole in the shaft.

In other words you are going to put a larger champher on the hole.

Do this without the shaft installed.
